| The week of October 5th was Fire Prevention Week across the nation. Although the fire service is constantly working to prevent fires, this week was an opportunity for everyone involved to promote fire safety education.
Purchase members made their annual visit to five local schools and day care centers to speak with the children about preventing fires in the home, the national theme for this year's Fire Prevention Week. Fire hazards and emergency planning were two of the main topics discussed. The children were also given the opportunity to sit in the apparatus and learn about firefighting equipment and protective gear.
The week concluded with the Harrison Police Open House on October 11th. All three town fire departments, as well as Police and EMS, had apparatus on display for the residents. Purchase contributed Tower Ladder 53, giving members of the community an opportunity to see the different features of our town's emergency response units. |
