On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, the Purchase Fire Department opened their doors to the community for our annual Open House. This event was part of a statewide recruitment event to recruit volunteer firefighters to our ranks. In addition to recruitment efforts, the open house was a great opportunity for residents and families to come learn about their local fire department. The Purchase Fire Department is a progressive, customer-service oriented agency that continuously strives to provide the highest level of service available. The day was a great success, and we appreciate everything this community does to support us.

Some highlights from the day included:

• Recruitment table and information on how to join our ranks and benefits
• Tours of our newly renovated firehouse
• Tours of our fire apparatus including our new Engine & Ladder truck
• Interactive fire safety stations with literature for the family.
• A review of family escape plans inside the Fire Prevention trailer
• A visit from EMT’s & Paramedics from Harrison EMS who provided tours of an ambulance.
• A visit from the Harrison Police Departments Community Police Unit
• A visit from Sparky the Fire Dog
• Fire Extinguisher Training
• Numerous live demonstrations including a simulated car accident.
• Refreshments including hotdogs & hamburgers

Purchase Firefighters are made up of a diverse group of volunteers. Some have lived in Purchase their whole lives; others are recruited from two local colleges, and some are from neighboring communities.
