On Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 8:30pm the Purchase Fire Department along with a West Harrison Engine & Harrison Tower Ladder were dispatched to a reported chimney fire on Windsor Court. As units were responding, 60 Control advised of additional calls reporting the roof to be on fire and Car 2411 requested the Town of Mamaroneck’s FAS Team. First arriving units reported fire showing from the top of the chimney. Shortly thereafter, Car 2411 requested the 10-75 (working fire assignment).

Engine 240 established a water supply and began to stretch a 2” handline into the attic to reach the seat of the fire to begin fire suppression. Members had active fire burning inside the chimney chase that was beginning to drop down. Members from Engine 238 & West Harrison conducted searches and began to open up adjoining areas to check for further fire extension. As soon as Harrison’s Tower Ladder 24 bucket reached the top of the 2 1/2 story wood frame structure, firefighters from both Harrison and West Harrison began to ventilate and check for fire extension to support interior operations. The fire was extinguished and all searches were proven negative. There were no injuries and the incident was brought under control in 45 minutes.

All units returned to service at 10:30pm. The Purchase Fire Department would like to thank all mutual aid companies who responded as well as the North White Plains & Port Chester Fire Departments, for standing by in our quarters throughout the incident.
