On Friday, February 8, 2008 at 7:00 PM, the Purchase Fire Department was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on Interstate 287 Eastbound at Exit 9S-N. Upon arrival, members observed a late 90's model BMW 7-Series with the engine compartment fully involved. Engine 240 arrived first on scene and started to extinguish the fire. Rescue 30 and Engine 239 arrived shortly after and assisted with extinguishing and overhauling the vehicle. At 7:34 PM, the scene was turned over to the State Police and all units returned in service.
