On Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12:10 AM, the Purchase and West Harrison Fire Departments were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident requiring extrication with fire on Anderson Hill Road in the area of Century Country Club. Engine 240 and Rescue 30 responded immediately.

As Rescue 30 approached the scene, in the area of Manhattanville College's northwest gate, flames were seen from the vehicle's engine compartment. Rescue 30 confirmed the motor vehicle fire with 60 Control and reported that one patient had been extricated from the burning vehicle by a passing motorist prior to arrival. Seconds later, Engine 240 arrived and members quickly extinguished the fire using a 1 3/4" hand line off the front bumper. Rescue 30 personnel set up the light tower for scene illumination as roads were left darkened days earlier by Hurricane Sandy.

Harrison EMS transported one patient to White Plains Hospital and West Harrison was put back in service. Purchase units remained on scene until the vehicle was removed from the roadway at 1:21 AM.
