On Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3:29 PM, the Purchase Fire Department was dispatched with Harrison EMS to a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover with two patients trapped. Units were advised that Westchester County Police was on location with the vehicle on the Westchester Avenue Westbound exit ramp to Hutchinson River Parkway Southbound. 61A2 arrived next, confirming entrapment.

Car 2411 established command upon arrival and observed a sport utility vehicle resting on its driver side in the grass. Rescue 30 personnel stabilized the vehicle with rescue struts as members from Engine 240 stretched and charged a hoseline for safety. A Harrison EMS paramedic entered the vehicle from the rear hatch and initiated patient care as firefighters performed a partial roof removal using a combination of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric tools. Once sufficient access was gained, members assisted Harrison EMS with patient removal and packaging. Both patients were transported to Westchester Medical Center. Car 2411 placed the situation under control at 3:57 PM and all units were in service at 4:48 PM after standing by for vehicle removal.
