On Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 7:17 AM, the Purchase and West Harrison Fire Departments were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover and entrapment on Interstate 684 southbound near mile marker 1.6. As Engine 240 and Rescue 30 arrived, 61A2 reported that the vehicle's sole occupant had crawled from the vehicle.

Members observed one vehicle in the woods that had rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof. Car 2411 established command as Purchase and West Harrison firefighters assisted Harrison EMS with patient care. The driver was later transported to Westchester Medical Center. Though details remain unclear, the Highway Emergency Local Patrol operator that spotted the car stated that the accident may have gone unnoticed for several hours. Rescue 30 personnel also assisted a motorist with removing her disabled vehicle from active lanes. All units were cleared from the scene at 8:19 AM.
