| On Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:40 AM, the Purchase and West Harrison Fire Departments were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 684 southbound in the area of the split to the Hutchinson River Parkway. The initial report was that the vehicle possibly went airborne and rolled over. While units were responding, Purchase was dispatched to a second MVA in the district on the Hutchinson River Parkway on the southbound ramp to Interstate 287 West. After no incidents were found on I-684, all units redirected to the Hutch. Car 2412 established the Hutch Command upon arrival and advised that extrication would be required for one patient. Car 2411, Engine 240, and Rescue 30 arrived immediately after to find an Audi sedan that had rolled over and was resting on an outcrop off the left shoulder. Members stabilized the vehicle with wood cribbing and a Res-Q-Jack strut. Both departments worked together to quickly stabilize the incident and remove the patient. The extrication was completed within 10 minutes and the patient was transported to Westchester Medical Center. All units were cleared at 12:21 PM. |
