During this Holiday Season, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control is offering their advice on Holiday Fire Safety. Whether you are decorating your homes or places of work, it is always important to try to keep them hazard free.

General Safety Tips:

-Check all of your smoke alarms.

-Ensure that your family and friends that are staying for the holidays know your home fire escape plan.

-Have your chimney or vent for your fireplace or wood-stove cleaned and inspected before use for the season.

-Whenever possible, use flame-retardant or flame-resistant decorating materials. Never use natural vegetation indoors that is not set in water or soil.

-Watch for overloading of electrical circuits. Use listed power distribution blocks or strips having automatic circuit protection when overloaded or overheated.

With many holiday celebrations and gatherings going on, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you to drive with caution this season.
