| On Monday, April 6, 2009 at 6:16 PM, the Purchase Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a person pinned between two garbage trucks at the rear of 85 Tower Road at the Westchester County Airport. Units required an escort through the security gates to travel onto the airfield. Car 2411, Rescue 30, and Utility 10 arrived first on scene, observing a dump truck that had rear-ended another dump truck. While no one was caught between the two trucks, the driver of the rear truck was pinned inside his cab. Crews from the Rescue and Utility removed the driver's side door and pushed the steering column off the driver's leg with hydraulic tools. Harrison EMS provided patient care while members worked to free the driver. Engine 240 stood by with additional personnel. Firefighters completed the extrication in under ten minutes and the patient was transported ALS to the Westchester Medical Center. Units were cleared at 6:48 PM. |
