On Saturday, February 7th, the Purchase Fire Department participated in the 14th Annual Snowball Softball Mike Kmetz Memorial Tournament, a fundraiser event held by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thirty-two teams came from all over the tri-state area to conquer the cold for a good cause at Veteran's Park in Harrison. Although the conditions made for some mediocre softball play, a great time was still had by all.

Over $30,000 was raised to help fund cures and support those financially burdened by blood cancer. For more events held by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or for more ways to help, visit their website at www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/all_chap. Next, Team Purchase looks forward to softball without the snow during their regular season this summer.
