Live In-Program:

The Purchase Fire Department is one of the busiest all volunteer Fire Departments located in Westchester County that offers a unique live-in firefighter experience for college students and other adult members. Our Live-In program began over 15 years ago and continues to be an asset for our department as we continue to staff our all-volunteer department 24 hours, 7 days a week. This program was the first of its kind in Westchester County. We are currently accepting applications into our program.

In exchange for responding to emergency calls, state of the art training, house duties, live-in firefighters reside at the firehouse free of charge. We provide dorm style rooms (each with a bed, desk, dresser & closet.) In addition to these rooms, we have “overflow” bunk rooms for firefighters.

In addition to free room-and-board, the Purchase Fire Department also offers a variety of other incentives for your time and dedication including tuition reimbursement, Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP-similar to a retirement program), in-house gym, private living space, full commercial kitchen access, uniforms/gear and unlimited training and advancement classes.
