On Monday, March 1st, 2021 at 06:42 hours the Purchase Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial alarm at SUNY Purchase College, Outback Dorms. Car 2411 received reports from SUNY PD of a heavy smoke condition in the cellar of the 4 story dormitory and upgraded the alarm to a structural response bringing in an Engine from the West Harrison Fire Department & Tower Ladder from the Harrison Fire Department.

Units arrived on-scene to find an active dryer fire in the cellar with a heavy smoke condition throughout the structure. Units quickly extinguished the fire and secured the gas supply to the dryer. Adjoining areas were checked for any fire extension. Our mutual aid companies assisted with searches of the upper floors and provided ventilation to alleviate the heavy smoke condition. All primary and secondary searches were completed and proved negative. There were no injuries. The incident was placed Under Control at 07:30 hrs. North White Plains Engine 75 provided district coverage during the incident.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance as well as the Dispatchers at 60 Control.
