On Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:06 PM, the Purchase Fire Department was dispatched to 850 Anderson Hill Road for a reported heavy equipment fire. Upon the arrival of Engine 240, a large excavator was found fully involved in fire between two 25-foot piles of mulch. Members stretched two 1-¾" hoselines while Engine 239 secured a hydrant, laying 700-feet of large diameter hose from Anderson Hill Road. Class B foam was used to achieve total extinguishment. Since Engine 238 was out of service for maintenance, one engine from West Harrison was requested to the scene for assistance. Car 2001 from the Westchester County Hazardous Materials Response Team also responded to help mitigate diesel fuel runoff into the Blind Brook.

While Purchase and West Harrison units operated at the scene, one engine from Port Chester was requested to relocate to Purchase Fire Headquarters to maintain district coverage. Once the fire was extinguished and the fluid spill contained, all Purchase and mutual aid companies went back into service.
