On Sunday, April 14, and Monday, April 15, 2013 the Purchase Fire Department participated in two special training exercises.

On Sunday, Tower Ladder 53 paired with Port Chester Fire Department's Engine 61 of the Mellor Engine & Hose Company where they trained on elevated master stream operations. Engine 61 hooked up to a hydrant and supplied a 5" hose line to the aerial waterway of Tower Ladder 53. Firefighters of Engine 61 also climbed the 105' aerial to operate the nozzles from the bucket, providing them a rare opportunity to perform truck company operations.

On Monday, Engine 240 assisted with a drill for the West Harrison Fire Department Junior Program and Port Chester Fire Department Explorer Post 700. The mutual aid training session, held at the West Harrison Fire Training Center, was organized to give the programs a chance to work together in structural firefighting scenarios such as mask confidence, initial attack, search and rescue, and ventilation. Members from Engine 240 answered questions and helped guide the junior firefighters through their simulations.

Both training exercises were a great success, as a benefit to our membership and through the mentoring of the next generation of firefighters.
