Our new Engine 238 was blessed, christened, and wet down thoroughly as members, guests, and dignitaries gathered at Purchase Fire Department headquarters today. The engine, a 2007 Seagrave, which was delivered in February, has been fully equipped and placed in service. Today was the official welcome of the new apparatus.

Chief Joseph Brefere welcomed guests and thanked the Engine Committee for their hard work in preparing specifications for the new engine, which will be first due at all structure fires.

Harrison Supervisor / Mayor Joan Walsh thanked the volunteers for their dedication and service to the Town / Village of Harrison. Father Christopher Monturo, Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison, led the gathering in prayer and blessed the new engine.

Ex Chief Ronald Mignone, who was Chief when the previous Engine 238 was placed in service, christened the engine with a bottle of champagne. Guests enjoyed refreshments and a great meal prepared by Purchase firefighters. Engine 238 was later wet down by several neighboring fire department apparatus in the headquarters parking lot.

The Purchase Fire Department thanks members of the Harrison, Village of Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Rye, and West Harrison Fire Departments for including their apparatus, in addition to the many others who contributed to today's celebration.
