On Saturday, May 9, 2015, members of the Purchase Fire Department gathered at the Westchester County Airport to honor veterans of World War II. The event was put together by Hudson Valley Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. The organization transports war heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit their respective memorials at no cost to the veterans. The flight, which departed from Westchester County Airport, carried over 60 World War II vets and arrived in our nation's capitol for a day of reflection.
